Redding, CA — April 7, 2026After 15 years serving the Redding community, Paradigm Clinical Research has opened an expanded facility at 2701 Old Eureka Way, strengthening its long-standing presence in Northern California and increasing access to clinical trials across a broad range of medical specialties.

The new, larger space allows Paradigm to expand the number and types of clinical studies available locally, including research in mental health, respiratory disease, metabolic and obesity-related conditions, diabetes, cardiovascular health, dermatology, infectious disease and vaccines, neurology, and other specialty areas.

“This expansion reflects our long-term commitment to Redding,” said Kurt Mussina, CEO of Paradigm Clinical Research. “For 15 years, this community has trusted us to bring clinical research opportunities close to home. With this new facility, we can support more studies, partner with more physicians, and provide greater access to new treatment options for individuals in Northern California.”

In addition to expanding overall research capacity, the facility is equipped to support clinical trials exploring new approaches to mental health care, including physician-guided studies involving psychedelic-assisted therapies. These studies take place in structured medical settings and are part of broader research efforts focused on conditions such as treatment-resistant depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The Paradigm Clinic is located in the same building as Shasta Critical Care Specialists Medical Clinic, which offers specialties in pulmonary medicine, nephrology, infectious diseases, and critical care, and serves as the practice of Dr. Rafael Lupercio. Dr. Lupercio has partnered with Paradigm as a Principal Investigator for nine years, is board-certified in pulmonology and critical care medicine, and has extensive experience conducting clinical research in the region.

“Expanding research access here in Redding is meaningful for our patients and our community,” said Dr. Lupercio. “Clinical trials offer individuals the opportunity to consider new therapies while contributing to medical progress, without having to travel outside the region.”

The site is led locally by Sarah Sandberg, a certified clinical research coordinator who has been with Paradigm since 2016.

“We’ve seen firsthand how important it is for patients to have research options available close to home,” said Sandberg. “This new space allows our team to care for participants in a comfortable, professional environment while supporting studies that address real health needs in our community.”

To celebrate the opening, the Redding team will host a Community Day on May 20, nationally recognized as Clinical Trials Day. The annual event, traditionally hosted by the clinic, will take place this year in the parking lot of the new location from 12 PM to 5 PM.

The afternoon will feature activities for all ages, including a raffle, blood drive, games, food, and access to community resources. Attendees can also learn about clinical trials with physicians onsite to answer questions. The event is free and open to the public.
