SAN DIEGO — September 30, 2026 — Paradigm Clinical Research, Inc., a clinical research site organization, announced today the opening of a new clinical trial site in Carlsbad, California, expanding the company’s presence in North County San Diego.
The Paradigm research clinic is located at 6120 Paseo Del Norte, Suite L2, Carlsbad, within Synergy Rheumatology, a rheumatology practice led by Zachary Fellows, MD, MPH, RhMSUS, FACR. Dr. Fellows, a board-certified rheumatologist and experienced clinical researcher, will serve as Principal Investigator for clinical trials at the new location.
Rheumatology remains an active area of therapeutic development as sponsors continue to advance targeted treatments for inflammatory arthritis, autoimmune disease and other chronic rheumatologic conditions. New biologics, small-molecule therapies and other targeted approaches are creating opportunities to improve disease control and quality of life for individuals living with complex and often lifelong conditions. Experienced investigators with direct access to relevant patient populations are critical to evaluating these emerging therapies efficiently and rigorously.
“Dr. Fellows has built a physician-led practice around something that matters enormously in rheumatology: deep specialty expertise combined with continuity of care for patients living with complex, chronic disease,” said Kurt Mussina, Paradigm’s Chief Executive Officer. “That same combination is highly valuable in clinical research. His expertise in inflammatory and autoimmune disease, advanced musculoskeletal ultrasound capabilities and experience as a Principal Investigator give him an exceptional foundation for evaluating emerging therapies. We’re excited to partner with him to build on the impact he is already having in the North County San Diego community and expand opportunities for patients to participate in rheumatology research.”
Dr. Fellows is board certified in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine and in Obesity Medicine through the American Board of Obesity Medicine. He also holds the RhMSUS qualification in rheumatologic musculoskeletal ultrasound from the American College of Rheumatology. His clinical interests include inflammatory arthritis, autoimmune disease, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia and interstitial lung disease, and he has previously served as Principal Investigator for rheumatology clinical trials.
“Rheumatology is a specialty built on long-term relationships because many of the conditions we treat stay with patients for years and can affect nearly every part of daily life,” said Zachary Fellows, MD, MPH, RhMSUS, FACR. “Clinical research gives us another way to keep pushing for better options. Partnering with Paradigm allows us to bring those opportunities closer to our patients while continuing to provide the thoughtful, physician-led care they know and trust. I’m encouraged by what this partnership can make possible for our patients and for the future of rheumatology care.”
